Nice day :) up early with breakfast and lunch packed and Mag and I were at Levington Marina just before 7 in the morning to watch the sun rise !!! With hardly a clould in the sky but chilly we enjoyed tea and hot pastries with several birds flying past including a couple of curlews and lots of cormorants and we were joined by a seal in the marina channel, we had already seen 6 deer by the road on the way into the marina :) We then donned our walking boots and wrapped up warm and headed for the bird hide on the 'winter flood' on Trimley Marshes.I saw several long tailed tits and there were lots of waders by Levington Creek :) With the tide high we were expecting to see more but it was a bit quiet apart from some Brent Geese. We made it to the hide after nearly an hour to be joined by 4 real 'birdwatchers' with loads of kit who spent their time trying to out-do each other on who had seen what !!! The highlight of the hide visit was seeing 2 foxes ,a ruff and a little owl !!! We had to leave the hide in the end when one of the birdwatchers started counting starlings !!! the tide was now on the way out and there were several boats out enjoying the sunshine even if the breeze was light. We made it back to the van after being out for over 4 hours for soup before returning home to watch the rugby on tv - top day :)
